Post: Janet Cameron convicted and fined in Hobart Magistrates Court

Former director of Bellamy’s Australia Ltd Janet Heather Cameron, of Bicheno, Tasmania, has today been convicted and ordered to pay a total fine of $8,000 in the Hobart Magistrates Court following an investigation by ASIC.

On 14 December 2023, Deputy Chief Magistrate Daly found Ms Cameron guilty of one count of failing to lodge a substantial holder notice regarding her interests in Bellamy’s and one count of making a false and or misleading statement to ASIC.

In sentencing Ms Cameron today, Magistrate Daly convicted Ms Cameron of both charges, and imposed fines of $3,000 and $5,000 respectively.

As a result of her conviction, Ms Cameron is automatically disqualified from managing corporations for five years.

The matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. Ms Cameron was charged in 2019 following an investigation by ASIC (20-033MR) and found guilty on 14 December 2023 (23-341MR).

Ms Cameron has appealed the guilty finding to the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
